🎄 Peppermint Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

These rich chocolate cookies are soft on the inside, lightly crisp on the edges, rolled in powdered sugar, and finished with a cool hint of peppermint. They look fancy, but they’re easy to make — a guaranteed holiday hit.

Ingredients

Cookies

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • ½ cup vegetable oil

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp peppermint extract

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 ÂĽ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

For Rolling

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

Optional Toppings

  • Crushed candy canes

  • Mini chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Mix the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and oil until smooth.

  2. Add eggs, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract. Mix until fully combined.

  3. Stir in the cocoa powder until the mixture is thick and glossy.

  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until a soft dough forms.

2. Chill

  1. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
This step is important — it makes the dough easier to roll and helps create the crinkle effect.

3. Prepare to Bake

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

  3. Scoop dough into 1-inch balls.

  4. Roll each ball generously in powdered sugar until fully coated.

4. Bake

  1. Place cookies 2 inches apart on the baking sheets.

  2. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until cookies spread slightly and crack on top.

  3. If using, gently press crushed candy canes or chocolate chips into the tops immediately after baking.

5. Cool & Serve

  1. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

  2. Serve once fully cooled — or enjoy warm for extra fudgy centers.

Storage Tips

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 4–5 days

  • Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated up to 48 hours

  • Cookies freeze beautifully for up to 2 months
